Virginia’s First EarthCraft™ Certified Community Proposed for

Montgomery County

 

Community Housing Partners is proposing to develop the first EarthCraft™ certified community in the Commonwealth of Virginia on Harding Avenue in Montgomery County. The site is located about a mile from downtown Blacksburg and can be served by local transit. It is designed to serve as affordable, sustainable workforce housing for people that live and work in Montgomery County.

Proposed design elements include clustered housing, passive solar strategies, community gardens and farming, view sheds, open spaces, pervious paving areas, walking trails, a community building, and many other

features to be determined through the design charrette process.
