redefining affordable housing
through housing development

CHP has provided affordable housing preservation and development services since 1984. Our multi-state portfolio consists of rental communities serving families, older adults and persons with special needs, as well as rehabilitated and newly constructed single-family homes. Our company’s development accomplishments resulted in our selection for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's Affordable Housing Preservation Initiative, inclusion in Fannie Mae Foundation’s Leadership Alliance and acceptance as a chartered member in NeighborWorks® America.

environmental sustainability

Whether rehabilitating a property or building a new development, CHP strives to build and provide affordable housing in environments that are secure, thoughtfully designed and sensitive to the environment.

economic sustainability

Using local, state and federal assistance, CHP preserves historic buildings, renovates and improves aging single and multifamily housing stock and creates new units of attractive, sustainable affordable housing for low- to moderate-income residents. To date, CHP currently owns and/or operates over 4,600 rental units in our multifamily portfolio. Our development readiness, capacity, and efficiency is enhanced by an experienced real estate and finance staff and the availability of in-house design and construction capability.

social sustainability

While the majority of CHP’s development activity is conducted in-house, there is an increasing emphasis on partnerships with other community-based non-profit organizations and public housing authorities. CHP’s affordable housing program serves a diverse population including families, senior citizens, homeless, at-risk youth, disabled and other special needs groups.
